Customer story · Off-grid campsite and glamping, Norfolk

Wardley Hill moved booking systems in a few weeks. We did the moving.

Joe and Holly Putman run an off-grid campsite in the Waveney Valley, with a car-free meadow, two hand-built cabins, a tree tent and a field for 4x4 expedition vehicles. They wanted a reliable, easy-to-use booking system with plenty of features at a fair price. Our team brought every booking across while they carried on running the site.

A campsite that doesn't fit a template

Wardley Hill opened in 2014 on twelve acres of meadow, woodland and seasonal ponds in the Waveney Valley, between the Norfolk Broads and the Suffolk coast. The grass is left long for the hares and the insects. Guests wheel their kit down from the car park in a barrow and pitch wherever they like.

"Think Swallows and Amazons, Enid Blyton and Ray Mears. You won't find electric hook ups, hot tubs, numbered pitches or a petting zoo and bar here." From Wardley Hill's own website.

Wardley Hill has a meadow with no pitch numbers at all, a separate area for campervans and roof tents, two cabins with their own check-in times, a Tentsile tree tent and an exclusive-use field for 4x4 expedition vehicles. Each one is priced differently, and the cabins carry discounts for longer stays.

Why they chose CampSuite

As the site grew from a camping field into six different ways to stay, Joe and Holly wanted a booking system that was reliable, easy to use and full of features, at a price that made sense for an independent site. They also wanted people they could talk to while they made the switch.

We wanted a reliable, easy-to-use yet feature-rich booking system that was reasonably priced. CampSuite has ticked those boxes, and the team have been there every step of the way through the migration process.
Joe Putman, Wardley Hill Campsite

The worry, as it is for every site owner, was the move itself. Forward bookings with deposits already paid, guests who had booked months ahead, and a season that doesn't stop to wait for new software.

We did the move for them

Our team took the bookings out of their previous system and brought them into CampSuite, with deposits and balances where they belonged, and checked every one against the original. Joe and Holly carried on running the site. A few weeks after the first call, the Book Now button on their website was taking bookings through CampSuite.

Moving the bookings was the bit we were dreading, and in the end we didn't have to do it. Rob's team did it, we checked it, and that was that.

What we set up

Wardley Hill's own rules, running on their own

Everything below was already written on Wardley Hill's website. Now the booking page applies it, so nobody has to.

A meadow with no pitch numbers

Guests book a place in the tent meadow or the campervan area and choose their own spot when they arrive. CampSuite tracks how full each area is, night by night.

Parks and pitches

Six ways to stay, one booking page

Meadow camping, campervans and roof tents, the Tiny House, the Tinkers Hut, the tree tent and the 4x4 expedition field, each with its own prices and photos.
