The extras add up, if somebody asks

Firewood, an extra dog, an electric hookup, a late checkout. Offer them while the guest is booking and the card is already out, and add them to a phone booking just as easily.

Extras offered at the moment of booking
The extras a guest would happily pay for, if anybody thought to offer them.

Offered while the card is out

Extras sit in the online booking, at the moment a guest is already paying. Not in an email three days later that nobody opens.

Once a stay, or every night

A bag of logs is charged once. An awning, a second car or an extra dog can be charged per night, with a limit on how many anyone can add.

Itemised, then counted

Every extra gets its own line on the invoice and its own figure in the reports, so you can see what actually sells.

How it works

Set it up once, sell it all season

A few minutes of setup, then it does the asking for you.

1

Add what you sell

Firewood, gas, a dog, a second car, a late checkout, anything you hire out. Give it a price and say whether it is charged per stay or per night.

2

Guests add it themselves

It appears as an option while they book. They tick it, it goes on their total, and you find out when the booking lands in the diary.

3

Or you add it later

Somebody rings on the Saturday wanting logs. Put it on the booking and it is on the invoice and in the takings straight away.

The quiet money most sites leave in the field

Ask an owner what they sell besides the pitch and you usually get a pause. There is firewood in the shed, gas by the shop, a fire pit somebody could hire, a late checkout that never gets charged for. All of it real money, all of it resting on somebody remembering to ask.

The asking is the hard part. On a Friday afternoon with a queue at the gate, nobody asks. By the time the guest is settled on the pitch with the kettle on, the moment to sell them a bag of logs has gone.

Put the extras into the booking and the asking happens by itself, at the one point in the whole stay when a guest has their card in their hand and is in a good mood about it. Extras ride along with the online booking engine, land on the invoice as their own line, and turn up in your reports at the end of the season.

Frequently asked questions

What can I sell as an extra?

Anything you charge for on top of the pitch: firewood, gas, an extra dog, a second car, an awning, an electric hookup, a late checkout, hire of equipment. If you can put a price on it, you can add it.

Can an extra be charged per night?

Yes. Each extra is set to charge once for the stay or once per night, and you can cap how many of it a single booking is allowed to add.

Can I add an extra to a booking I took on the phone?

Yes. Extras are not only for online bookings. Open any booking, add the extra, and it appears on the invoice and in your takings.

Do extras show up separately in my reports?

Yes. Each one is its own line on the invoice and its own figure in the revenue reports, so you can see which extras earn their keep.
